2024-25 elementary school class placements & summer letter

Dear Schuylerville Elementary School families,

We hope this letter finds you well and your family is enjoying the summer months! The purpose of this correspondence is to ensure our records are up to date for the 2024-25 school year and inform you of important events.

Class Placements

Schuylerville parents have the ability to access school-related information about their children through a web-based application called Parent Portal. Parent Portal is an extension of the district’s current student database system, SchoolTool. Elementary class placements are now available through the Parent Portal on SchoolTool.

  • Parents must have an e-mail address documented in SchoolTool in order to access the Parent Portal. A separate e-mail address is necessary for each parent/guardian. (Contact the elementary school main office if your email address needs to be changed.)
  • Access to Parent Portal is for custodial parents only.
  • If your email address is correct, but you still need access to the portal, please use this form to request access.
  • Please allow 48 hours for portal access requests to be granted.

Dismissal Information

Daily Dismissal Form

The Daily Dismissal Form must be completed for each child in your family. This form is electronic only, and can be accessed via this link: Daily Dismissal Form. This form should be completed by Friday, Aug. 23. As the year progresses and you need to make permanent dismissal changes for your child, please contact dismissal at 518-695-3255 ext.1225, or email: esattendance@schuylerville.org.

Walkers

If your child is going to be a walker, they will be dismissed at 3:00 p.m. from their classroom and exit the building through the main entrance doors. It is important to note, walkers are considered students who will be leaving the elementary building and walking to their scheduled destination. To eliminate traffic congestion, we are asking parents/guardians not to drive on campus to meet their walkers. Parents/guardians can choose to meet their child at an agreed upon off campus location, which may or may not be the home. We do NOT allow kindergarten students to be dismissed as walkers for safety reasons. This is also the case for unexpected early release incidents. Kindergarten students, who live within walking distance from the school, will be released as pickup students each day for dismissal.

Pickup Students

If your child is a pickup student, they will be dismissed from the elementary gymnasium beginning at 3:05 p.m. These students will need to be signed out by a parent/guardian. Photo identification is required by the person signing out a student as a safety protocol. Parents/guardians will be required to wait outside while the school dismisses each child. One parent/guardian will be permitted inside the door at a time.

Bus Transportation

If your child is going to be dismissed via bus transportation, they will be dismissed by their grade level between 3:15 p.m. and 3:20 p.m. from their classroom and exit the building through the main entrance doors.

Please remember that any student needing to be picked up during the day should be signed out at the main office no later than 2:15 p.m. unless there is an emergency.  Additionally, students should not be arriving at school prior to 8:50 a.m. unless they are enrolled in the Before School Program or scheduled activity.  Students that arrive prior to 8:50 a.m. will wait outside the building of the main entrance. Doors will open at 8:50 a.m. and close at 9:10 a.m. We encourage all students to arrive by 9:00 a.m.

School Supply Lists

Parents as Educational Partners (PEP) graciously donated a majority of class supplies for the 2024-25 school year! Supply lists can be found on the district website. Families will notice the amount of supplies needed to be purchased has decreased significantly. Thank you to PEP for this thoughtful and generous contribution to benefit all of our students.
