Schuylerville features New York grown products during National Farm to School Month


During National Farm to School Month, Schuylerville Central School District continues its strong partnership with local farms and businesses, with lunch trays filled with healthy, local ingredients. Schuylerville’s October menus featured a number of New York grown products, including:

  • Hand-dipped French toast with real NY maple syrup from Mapleland Farms
  • Celery & cherry tomatoes donated by Old Saratoga Mercantile
  • Kale chips from Old Saratoga Mercantile
  • Stewart’s Shops ice cream
  • Roasted NY summer squash from Wertman Farm
  • Salad with lettuce from Sustainable Aqua Farms
  • Roasted red potatoes from Schoharie Valley Farms
  • Hamburgers with NY beef from Smith Packing Company
  • Italian wrap with NY salami & bologna from Smith Packing Company
  • Macaroni & cheese with pasta made from NY whole wheat flour
  • Lettuce grown by Ms. Foote’s Agriculture education classes
  • A variety of local produce from Capital Roots

Student in the lunch line “Bringing a variety of fresh and healthy meal options to our school lunch menus in Schuylerville is a priority for the Food Services Department year round,” said Food Services Manager, Sarah Keen. “We are very proud of and thankful for the many partnerships we have and generous donations we receive throughout the year. Our students not only have greater access to healthy meals as a result, but great tasting ones, too!”
