The Saratoga County Sheriff’s Department, in conjunction with Schuylerville Central School District administration, have investigated a threat made in-person by a Schuylerville High School student directly to other students during the school day. The student threatened violence and alleged they were in possession of a weapon. School administrators immediately informed the district’s School Resource Officer Zach Warriner who began the investigation. While the threat was deemed not credible, the student has subsequently been prohibited from campus and will be charged with making a threat of mass harm and referred to Family Court for further action. A superintendent’s hearing will also occur.
We have a zero tolerance policy for threatening behavior of any kind, whether it be in the form of words or actions. That zero tolerance will apply to this specific case as well. Any student who jeopardizes the safety of others, whether the threat is credible or not, will be held to the highest standard of repercussion. We cannot emphasize enough, the safety of our students and staff will always remain the district’s top priority.
