Schuylerville High School senior and student-athlete Anthony Luzadis was recognized by the Capital District Chapter of the National Football Foundation and the College Football Hall of Fame as one of the top 10 overall winners for 2022. Luzadis, a center and linebacker for Schuylerville’s varsity football team, was honored at a luncheon at the Polonaise Ballroom in Albany, along with athletes from every Section 2 school. He was accompanied by his parents and Schuylerville CSD Athletic Director and Head Football Coach, John Bowen.
Luzadis gave a speech in front of 300 attendees, reflecting on his four years as a student-athlete.
“Football has not only taught me how to be a better player, but has taught me how to be a better man. I have learned how to take criticism and run with it, to be respectful on and off the field, respect authority, always have a firm handshake, look someone in the eyes when talking to them, and that goodbyes are never easy. I am proud to say that everything I have gained from football is knowledge I will not only continue to share and use, but also something I will pass onto my kids.”
