Dear Schuylerville families,
We are pleased to announce that all students enrolled in the Schuylerville Central School District in grades UPK-12 will be able to receive FREE breakfast and lunch at school beginning on Nov. 1.
This implementation is a result of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) expanding access to the federal Community Eligibility Provision (CEP), coupled with additional funding by New York State. CEP allows eligible schools participating in the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Programs to offer school meals at no charge to all students. Free meals through CEP are approved in Schuylerville through June 30, 2027 with the hope of ongoing reauthorization every four years.
No further action is required of families to receive the free meals. Meal prices will automatically change on Nov. 1. Each student may receive one free breakfast and one free lunch daily. (Please note: any meal charges accrued prior to Nov. 1 must still be paid off.)
Free meals under CEP apply only to a complete breakfast and/or lunch. A complete lunch consists of at least three of the five food components offered (milk, grain, protein fruit & vegetable). Pursuant to USDA requirements, all students must take at least ½ cup of fruit or vegetable with each meal. A la carte items such as snacks, ice cream, drinks, and doubles must still be paid for. Students will be charged for milk if not taken with a complete meal.
