The Schuylerville CSD Board of Education would like to extend its appreciation to Board member Michael Bodnar, who has served the district since July 1, 2017. Mr. Bodnar submitted his resignation effective Aug. 31.
The district and Board would like to recognize Mr. Bodnar for his time, dedication, and seven years of service. During that time, Mr. Bodnar served not only as a Board member, but also in various roles including Board President, Vice-President, Audit Committee Chairperson, and Legislative Liaison, as well as on the district’s negotiating committee. As an active member of the community, Mr. Bodnar always served in the best interest of students, providing thoughtful contributions to Board discussions and decisions. He also devoted extensive time to youth sports/OSAA, and was the assistant coach for Schuylerville Middle School’s modified baseball team. The Board wishes Mr. Bodnar the very best in the future.
Education Law gives the Board of Education the following options to fill a vacancy:
- The Board may hold a special election within 90 days
- The Board may appoint a person to fill the vacancy until the district’s Annual Budget Vote/Board of Education election in May.
- If the Board chooses this option, the person appointed will serve until June 30, 2025. The person elected in May will serve a two-year term beginning July 1, 2025, to fulfill the remainder of Mr. Bodnar’s term.
A central school district does not have the option of leaving the seat vacant.
The Board is committed to a thoughtful process to fill the vacancy, and plans to announce a decision for an October start date. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to the Board at BoardofEducation@schuylerville.org.
