We have been closely monitoring the forecast for this evening’s scheduled Class of 2024 Commencement Ceremony, and there continues to be a strong threat of storms in and around the time of graduation. Since 2020, the high school’s graduation ceremony has been held outside at Black Horse Stadium. The feedback we have heard from students and families is that having commencement on campus is a special and unique experience for Schuylerville, and the school community is largely in support of it.
In an effort to preserve this opportunity for the Class of 2024, graduation will be moved to the second rain date of Monday, June 24th at 7:30 p.m. in Black Horse Stadium. If weather looks to be an issue for Monday evening, the ceremony will still occur, but will be held inside in the high school auditorium. If the ceremony is forced inside due to weather, students will only be allowed five guests (instead of six). However, the high school gym will be a designated overflow location, where graduation will be livestreamed for additional guests who the auditorium cannot accommodate.
Auditorium Seating
After much thought and consideration, we feel this is the best plan moving forward, taking into account Thursday and Friday’s weather. This plan also allows for the preservation of the graduation live stream, and the eight hours of audio and visual setup that goes into the district’s commencement ceremony.
For those unable to attend in person, graduation will be live streamed at: https://www.youtube.com/c/SchuylervilleCSD
We thank you for your understanding and look forward to celebrating the Class of 2024 on Monday evening.
