District announces grades K-8 interim administrative support plan

Schuylerville Middle School Assistant Principal Maddie Wright has accepted an administrative position at Shenendehowa Central School District as the K-12 Academic Administrator for English as a New Language and World Languages beginning in the 2024-25 school year. Mrs. Wright has served as the middle school’s assistant principal for three years, since July of 2021. During that time, Mrs. Wright established herself as an excellent support for students, families, faculty, and staff, and was an integral part of the launch of the middle school’s positive culture campaign, which emphasizes the importance of positivity, unity, kindness, and connection. She also played a major role in the annual Middle School Fun Run, 8th Grade Give Back Day, Screen-Free Week, and end-of-year field trips for 7th and 8th grade students.

“Mrs. Wright gave so much of herself to our students and staff and will be greatly missed,” said Schuylerville Middle School Principal, Katie Elsworth. “Her professionalism, coupled with her tireless energy, was instrumental in creating so many great programs and opportunities for our students. Mrs. Wright’s kindness and respect for everyone will never be forgotten and we wish her the best of luck in her new position.”

With the departure of Maddie Wright, and the budget elimination of the dean position at the elementary school, the district has created an interim plan for grades K-8 administrative support during the 2024-25 school year.

During the July 15 Board of Education meeting, the Board appointed Beecher Baker as the grades 4-8 interim assistant principal for the 2024-25 school year. As an additional support, Director of Pupil Personnel Services, Jordan Tezanos, will assume grades K-3 discipline.

Mr. Baker is the retired Superintendent of Schools for Hadley-Luzerne Central School District. He earned his bachelor’s degree in education and his master’s degree in educational administration from the State University of New York in Plattsburgh, and is a member of the NYS Council of School Superintendents (NYSCOSS).

“We will take the next year and analyze the needs of the elementary and middle school students, faculty, and staff to establish the best permanent administrative and support system moving forward,” said Schuylerville CSD Superintendent, Dr. Ryan Sherman. “Mr. Baker is a known leader in the region, and we look forward to him being part of the Schuylerville school community for the next year.”
