Students at the regional food showMembers of the Schuylerville Middle and High School Student Councils joined more than 200 students from 12 districts at a school food show. The event, held at the Saratoga Springs City Center, was sponsored by the Tri-County New York School Nutrition Association. The food show was attended by 23 vendors, including local companies Argyle Cheese Farmer, Windy Hill Orchard, and Kilcoyne Farms. National companies such as Tyson, Boar’s Head, and Schwan’s were also represented.

The regional food showStudents had an opportunity to sample over 100 different items and rate which foods they liked. Their surveys will be used to determine new menu items next year at Schuylerville. Student favorites included a whole muscle chicken in Caribbean jerk sauce, shrimp poppers, frozen yogurt, and a stuffed hash brown.

“This is a great opportunity for our students to take an active role in what is served in our school cafeterias,” said Food Services Manager Sarah Keen. “Our students are our customers and we value their opinion! I look forward to reviewing their feedback as menu decisions are made for next year.”
