Schuylerville hosts New York Animal Agriculture Coalition’s Mobile Dairy Experience

A Schuylerville FFA member presents to elementary students

Students and the surrounding community got the unique opportunity to explore the Mobile Dairy Experience on the Schuylerville campus, an interactive exhibit that isn’t officially on tour until 2025! The New York Animal Agriculture Coalition (NYAAC) unveiled the interactive dairy experience at the 2024 Great New York State Fair. Featuring state-of-the-art technology, captivating imagery, and immersive activations for all ages, the Experience spent two school days at Schuylerville, with one evening open to the public.

The 53-foot trailer consists of five different exhibits:

  • Dairy Farming Basics
  • Environmental Sustainability
  • Technology
  • Making Dairy Products
  • Future Farmers

Schuylerville High School FFA members directed and led presentations inside the Mobile Dairy Experience for their elementary peers. During the 20-minute walk-through, students learned about the dairy industry from calf to cow, as well as careers in agriculture. At the end of the 1,000 square feet exhibit, students visited a grocery store section with a cooler full of dairy products and interactive barcode scanners.

“They’re becoming exposed to a bigger picture of agriculture,” said Hannah King, Schuylerville FFA President. “The Mobile Dairy Experience gives students a different perspective on the dairy industry: how these animals are living, what they are producing (including their milk and their manure), and what we do with that milk. The exhibit also has a section on different careers in agriculture, which I think is really great for kids to learn about.”

Assemblywoman Carrie Woerner and Assemblymember Matt Simpson also visited the Mobile Dairy Experience at Schuylerville and engaged with FFA student leaders.

The exhibit has received support from family dairy farms and agriculture partners across the state, including funding provided through the New York Dairy Promotion Order Advisory Board. The Mobile Dairy Experience will be available for scheduled visits to school districts, county fairs or festivals, and other events across the state beginning in March 2025.
