The Schuylerville CSD Board of Education would like to thank the community for taking the time to record thorough and valuable input via the superintendent search survey. At the close of the survey, 1,003 responses were submitted. The Board has spent a great deal of time reading through the results, all of which will be key components in the process of understanding the school community’s vision of its next leader. Click here for an overview of the survey results.
The Board will now begin its official search for a superintendent, first through an internal posting. An application will be sent to all Schuylerville CSD employees holding a SDL certification (School District Leader) or SDA certification (School District Administrator). Interested candidates will be required to interview for the position with the Board of Education, as well as with two advisory committees composed of parents, community members, faculty, administrators, staff and students. Those committees will provide direct feedback to the Board. Should the internal search not yield a successful candidate, the Board will subsequently re-open the search to candidates outside the Schuylerville CSD staff.
Timeline
- Feb. 7: Release of internal posting and application to eligible employees
- March 11: Due date for application materials and deadline for advisory committee interest
- March 31: Candidate(s) will give a presentation to the board on his/her vision for the district, followed by an interview with the board.
- April 4: Training and question development for advisory committees
- April 4: Interviews by advisory committees
- April 5: Feedback from advisory committees and determination by the Board if they have a successful internal candidate
In order to ensure a rigorous process, the Board has enlisted the assistance of Mr. James Dexter, District Superintendent of the WSWHE Supervisory District, to assist the Board with the mechanics of the process. All decisions about the candidates will be made by the Schuylerville CSD Board of Education.

It is the Board’s hope that a thorough process will help the transition of leadership, and allow an opportunity for the superintendent candidates to exemplify that he/she is capable of leading the district. We will continue to keep you informed as the process moves forward. It is our ultimate goal for Schuylerville’s next superintendent to carry on the tradition of excellence for which our district is known.
Sincerely,
Michael Bodnar
Board of Education President
